How we handle your data.

Last updated: 5 September 2026.

Dual Electrical Services is the data controller for personal information used through this website and while quoting, installing, certifying and supporting our work. We collect only what we need, do not sell personal information, and do not share it with marketers.

Contact: Dual Electrical Services, Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland · solar@dualelectricalservices.co.uk · 07860 784882

Information we collect

  • Enquiries and quotes: name, email, phone number, postcode, property details, service interest, messages and anything you choose to send.
  • Job records: addresses, site notes, installation details, test results, certificates, photographs, contracts, invoices, payments and warranty correspondence.
  • Communications: emails, calls, WhatsApp messages and records of decisions about your quote or job.
  • Website statistics: aggregate, cookieless information through Plausible so we can understand which pages are useful. It is not used to follow you across other websites.
  • Historic voucher records: the retired marble promotion recorded entrant contact details and issued voucher information. We retain only what is still needed to honour or resolve an issued voucher.

How we use it and our lawful bases

  • Answering enquiries and preparing quotes: steps requested before entering a contract and our legitimate interest in running the business.
  • Carrying out, certifying and supporting work: performance of our contract with you.
  • Keeping tax, safety, accreditation and certification records: legal obligations and, where applicable, legitimate interests in demonstrating compliant work and handling warranty or legal claims.
  • Improving the website and service: our legitimate interest in understanding aggregate website use and improving customer journeys.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether the use is necessary and whether your rights outweigh our business need. We do not use your information for unrelated direct marketing without the appropriate permission.

Who receives it

We share only what is necessary with:

  • service providers including Netlify for website hosting and forms, Microsoft 365 for email, Tradify for job management, Xero for accounting and WhatsApp when you choose that channel;
  • suppliers, subcontractors and access providers where they need information to deliver your job;
  • DNOs, energy suppliers, MCS, NAPIT, TrustMark, RECC and other certification or accreditation bodies where required for an installation, application or audit;
  • accountants, insurers, professional advisers, HMRC, courts or regulators where required by law or necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

These organisations receive only the information needed for their role. Some act as our processors and others, such as regulators or network operators, may act as separate data controllers.

International processing

Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, we use suppliers that provide a recognised safeguard, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not become jobs: normally 12 months after the last contact.
  • Quotes, contracts, invoices and completed-job records: normally 6 years after completion, or longer where a warranty, accreditation rule or legal requirement applies.
  • Certification and safety records: for the period required by the relevant scheme, regulation or warranty.
  • Historic voucher records: until any issued voucher and a reasonable period for related queries or claims have passed, then securely deleted.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access your information, correct it, have it erased, restrict its use, object to its use, or receive a portable copy. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent. These rights are not absolute where we must keep information for legal, certification or contractual reasons.

Email solar@dualelectricalservices.co.uk to make a request. We will normally respond within one month and may ask for information needed to confirm your identity.

Automated decisions and cookies

We do not make decisions about customers using solely automated processing. The public website does not use advertising cookies. Plausible is configured for cookieless, aggregate analytics.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can investigate. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
